Co-Lin Community College will be hosting their Junior Preview Day on Friday, March 23 in Wesson. Any junior interested in attending must turn in his/her permission form to Mr. Nash by Friday, February 24.
Jones County Junior College will be hosting their Junior Preview Day on Tuesday, April 17. More information will be provided later.
February 22 – Get help filling out the FAFSA. You will be allowed to go to the career center or library on this date from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. to fill out the FAFSA. Your parents are encouraged to attend!
www.studentaid.ed.gov/pubs is a website where parents and students can get information on federal student aid, Pell Grants, and student loans.
Federal Aid/FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid): Go to www.mississippi.edu/riseupms. Click on the Financial Aid tab at the top of the page. Click on Step 2 and then click on Complete the FAFSA. This will take you to the FAFSA website. Click on the tab at the top of the page that says Pin Site. Students and parents need to obtain a PIN before they fill out the FAFSA. Once a PIN has been confirmed, then you may click on Start Here on the FAFSA website and complete the application.
MTAG: Go to www.mississippi.edu/riseupms. Click on the Financial Aid tab at the top of the page. Click on Step 3 – Apply for State Aid. Click on Submit New 2012-2013 Application. MTAG awards may be up to $500 per academic year for freshman and sophomores and $1000 per academic year for juniors and seniors.

Scroll down the page to the section that says Tools You Can Use. Click on Directory of Schoalrship Websites and Scholarhship Opportunities from Various Foundations & Organizations, and Scholarship Links.
GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships. Visit www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships for more information and an online application. The deadline to apply is February 17, 2012.
Regions Riding Forward Scholarship: In honor of Black History Month, Regions is proud to offer the Regions Riding Forward Scholarship Essay Contest. To enter, write a 500-word essay about an African American, past or present, who has inspired you. Enter online now. Go to www.regions.com. The deadline to enter is February 29.
Nursing Scholarship for $1,000: This is a local scholarship. Requirements: Attend nursing school at Co-Lin Community College, Hinds Community College, or the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Write a 750 word essay on the topic “Why I Want to Choose Nursing as a Career” and turn the essay in to Mr. Nash. The deadline is February 29, 2012.
Buick Achievers Scholarship Program: Any senior who plans to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry should apply. Visit www.buickachievers.com for program details and the online application. The deadline to apply is February 29, 2012.
Nissan Scholarship: Go to www.mississippi.edu/riseupms. Type in the search box Nissan Scholarship. A page will come up with several different things listed. Look down the page for Nissan Scholarship and click on it. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2012.
Dixie Softball Scholarship: The applicant must be a senior and have participated in a Dixie Softball program for at least 2 seasons. The deadline to apply is March 1. Get the application from Mr. Nash.
Dixie Youth Baseball Scholarship: The applicant must be a senior and have participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball program when 12 years old or younger. The deadline to apply is March 1. Get the application from Mr. Nash.
David G. Hall, M. D. Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to seniors who have an aptitude in the sciences and an interest in pursuing a career in the field of medicine. The deadline to turn in the application and the essay to Mr. Nash is Friday, March 9. The Walmart Dependent Scholarship is a $13,000 scholarship paid out over four years. Applicants must be dependents of Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, have at least a 2.0 GPA and prove financial need. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2012. The Doodle 4 Google Competition is now open to all K-12 students for a chance to win a $30,000 scholarship and/or other prizes. Go to www.google.com/doodle4google/index.html for more information and the application. The deadline is March 20.
The Kaye Etheridge Memorial Scholarship: Any senior in good standing who is planning to major in education at a community college or a senior college is eligible for this $500 scholarship. A minimum of 3 students must turn in applications in order for one senior to receive the scholarship. A two page double spaced typed report must be turned in to Mr. Nash by April 1. Bernie Varnadore Scholarship Program is for any senior who participated in a franchised Dixie Boys Baseball, Incorporated programs which includes Dixie Boys Baseball age 13 – 14; Dixie Pre-Majors Baseball age 15 – 16; and Dixie Majors Baseball age 15 – 19. The deadline to apply is April 1. Get the application from Mr. Nash.
BigSun Scholarship: The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. In order to do our part we are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.
